To match edge banding to UNIBOARD, TAFISA or PRISM panels, order by the exact decor code and finish name printed on your board, not by a color name or a photo. All three brands sell the same color in more than one surface, so a code like UNIBOARD 123 or TAFISA 765 is only half the answer until you also know whether the panel is Supermat, Dolomite, High Gloss or another finish. Find the code, pick the edge made for that exact decor and finish, and check a physical sample before you run production.
This guide shows how each brand labels its decors, where shops most often pick the wrong edge, and the steps our team recommends to cabinet shops, closet builders and furniture makers working with these Canadian and North American panels.
Key takeaways
- UNIBOARD, TAFISA and PRISM each use short letter-and-number decor codes. The code is the fastest way to find the right edge.
- The same decor often comes in several surfaces. Match the finish as well as the color, or the edge will look wrong at the corner even when the color is right.
- In our range, UNIBOARD finishes appear as a word after the code (for example 123 Supermat and 123 Dolomite), while TAFISA uses different letter prefixes for the same decor name (for example PM765 and HG765 Midnight Sun).
- Always compare a physical sample against a real offcut in daylight before ordering a full run.
- CT Edge Band makes pre-matched edge banding for all three brands: browse UNIBOARD, TAFISA and PRISM, and order free samples first.
How do UNIBOARD, TAFISA and PRISM decor codes compare?
Each brand names its decors a little differently. This table summarizes how the codes look in our own pre-matched ranges for each brand:
| Panel brand | How codes look | Examples in our range | What to double-check |
|---|---|---|---|
| UNIBOARD | A letter plus two digits (K, H, L, G and others) or a three-digit number | K15, H65, L03, G20, 123, 777 | The finish word after the code: Supermat, Dolomite, Omnia, Calico, Aura or High Gloss |
| TAFISA | A letter prefix plus a number, often with a decor name; some codes end in a letter in brackets | M2041(B), L589(K) Salt of the Earth, PM835 Camera Obscura, HG834 Iron Horse | The prefix, because the same decor name can appear under PM and HG codes |
| PRISM (by ARAUCO) | Two-letter prefix plus three digits, followed by a decor name | WF220 Brazilian Walnut, SF208 Flokstone, AF239 Total Eclipse, W919 Cotton White | The full number, since several decors share words like white, pine, ash or cherry |
If you only remember a color name such as "black" or "walnut," you will usually find several candidates in each brand. The code narrows it to one.
How do you match edge banding to UNIBOARD panels?
Start with the decor code, then confirm the finish. UNIBOARD offers many decors in more than one surface, and we make separate edges for them. A few examples from our UNIBOARD edge banding collection:
- 123 in 123 Supermat and 123 Dolomite
- 777 in Dolomite and High Gloss versions
- K83 in Supermat and Omnia versions
- 802 and 805 in Supermat and Dolomite versions
A super matte panel with a gloss edge, or the reverse, is one of the most common reasons an "exact" color match still looks off. If your paperwork only says "UNIBOARD 123," ask your panel supplier which surface it is before you order. Most of our UNIBOARD range is listed as woodgrain decors, with a smaller group of solid colors and whites.

How do you match edge banding to TAFISA panels?
With TAFISA, read the letters in front of the number as carefully as the number itself. In our TAFISA edge banding collection, several decor names appear twice, once with a PM code and once with an HG code, and each has its own edge:
| Decor name | Codes we match | Our finish range for each |
|---|---|---|
| Midnight Sun | PM765 and HG765 | Soft touch (PM) and high gloss (HG) |
| North Wind | PM771 and HG771 | Soft touch (PM) and high gloss (HG) |
| Cashmere | PM776 and HG776 | Soft touch (PM) and high gloss (HG) |
| Gardenia | PM775 and HG775 | Soft touch (PM) and high gloss (HG) |
| Summer Drops | PM202 and HG202 | Soft touch (PM) and high gloss (HG) |
So if your doors are a glossy Midnight Sun, choose the HG765 edge, and if they are the soft matte version, choose PM765. The rest of our TAFISA range covers woodgrain and solid decors with M and L codes, such as L589(K) Salt of the Earth. Most TAFISA rolls in our range come in 1mm thickness in 15/16" width, and many also in 1-5/8" width, in 300 ft rolls. Check the product page for your decor.

How do you match edge banding to ARAUCO PRISM panels?
PRISM is ARAUCO's line of decorative panels, and its decor names carry a two-letter prefix. In our PRISM edge banding collection, the codes group like this:
- WF codes are woodgrains, the largest group, for example WF220 Brazilian Walnut, WF301 Noce Vettore and WF229 Merit Maple.
- SF codes are solid colors and stone-look decors, for example SF208 Flokstone, SF213 Fog Grey and SF237 Charcoal.
- AF codes are material looks such as AF232 Natural Linen and AF239 Total Eclipse.
- W codes are whites, for example W919 Cotton White and W920 Vogue White.
PRISM woodgrains share many species words (pine, ash, cherry, walnut, maple), so match by number. For woodgrains, also check the grain direction on the panel and run the edge the same way, and compare the sample against a full-size offcut, since a short strip shows less of the pattern.

What is the step-by-step process for any of the three brands?
- Find the full code. Check the panel label, the pallet tag, your supplier's quote or invoice, or the project spec sheet. Write down the code, the decor name and the finish.
- Search our range by code. Open the UNIBOARD, TAFISA or PRISM collection and look for that exact code. Each CT roll is named for the decor it is designed to match, plus a CT reference number.
- Confirm the finish. If the same code appears more than once, pick the one with the same surface as your panel (for example Supermat versus Dolomite, or PM versus HG).
- Pick the width. Choose a width slightly wider than your panel thickness so the edge can be trimmed flush. Our edge banding width guide explains the rule of thumb.
- Order a sample. Request a free sample of the decor you picked.
- Compare in real light. Hold the sample against the panel face and a cut edge, in daylight and under the lighting the furniture will live in. Check color, pattern and sheen from a few angles.
- Run a test piece. Band an offcut on your own machine with your usual hot melt adhesive, then trim and scrape it. The finished edge is the real test.

Which should you choose when the exact decor isn't listed?
Not every UNIBOARD, TAFISA or PRISM decor and finish is in our range. If you can't find yours:
- Search by the number only (for example "802" or "765") in case the finish or prefix differs from what you expected.
- Look for the same decor in a different finish. A matching color in the wrong sheen is usually a compromise, so only use it where the edge is less visible, and confirm with a sample.
- For solid colors, our solid color and white ranges may have a close shade. Always compare a sample first.
- Contact our team with the full code and, if possible, a photo of the panel. We will tell you honestly whether we have a suitable match.

Frequently asked questions
Is CT edge banding made by UNIBOARD, TAFISA or ARAUCO?
No. CT Edge Band manufactures its own edge banding. UNIBOARD, TAFISA and PRISM names and decor codes are used only to show which panels each CT product is designed to match.
Is the decor code enough, or do I need the finish too?
You need both. The code sets the color or pattern, and the finish sets the sheen and feel. The same decor in a different finish can look noticeably different along an edge.
Where do I find the code on my panel?
Check the label on the panel or pallet, your supplier's quote or invoice, or the project specification. If you only have an offcut, ask the supplier who sold you the board.
Can I get a sample before ordering a full roll?
Yes. Order from our free samples page; you only pay shipping. Compare the sample with your panel in daylight before placing a production order.
Ready to match your panels?
Find your code in the UNIBOARD, TAFISA or PRISM collection, then order free samples to check color, finish and sheen against your own panels. Have a code you can't find? Send it to our team.
